Brittany and myself both lost our jobs when neither company could start back up. We were told this ahead of time on the starting days of the shut down. So we referred back to our strengths in conversation one night when my wife asked me randomly “ Can you build me a canned food organizer?” Sure! “So I can sell it!!” I thought she was crazy. That started cannedfoodstorage.com. Mid summer 2020 I get a phone call from my nephew asking me if I wanted to own a mechanic shop and that he had found a building. Having the last $7500.00 to our name we started Redline Auto and Diesel Repair. It was a big risk and I even remember my wife asking me one night “How are we going to make this work? We’re new to the area and can’t beg customers to walk in the door.” I Replied back to her “We don’t have a choice to make this work.” From August 1st 2020 thru the end of December we serviced around 80 cars and trucks. Being very fluent with diesels I was able to bring myself an actual diesel specialist to the playing field in Bountiful UT. We are now servicing around 100 cars and trucks a month and growing rapidly.
I hand picked and personally trained all of my employees starting with my nephew Beck Upvall. This guy has been working alongside me in my garage working on all my toys and vehicles since he was 7 years old. He’s 24 now and his diesel experience and electrical diagnostics exceeds most in the industry.
Ben Tribe I brought on the day after he got back from serving his mission. What an amazing guy. He came with only the knowledge of how to change brakes and a few radiator hoses. Within 8 months he was performing major engine and transmission work while going to Davis Tech. He out performed all of his classmates and graduated a year long class in 6 months.
It’s been the best feeling in the world watching these guys (the next generation) grow into what they’ve become. They are now my assistants in the shop and in the office. We not only taught them how to perform the best quality work but also taught them about customer service. So when you call Redline you don’t just get a service writer trying to sell you work you actually get the technician who is most likely working on your vehicle and cares about how we’re treating our customers.
